Almost two decades ago, Louisa was diagnosed with depression. Luckily she sought help and recovered, but tragic life events continued to challenge her happiness.  Refusing to be a victim, Louisa went on a quest to learn more about how she could take control of her mental wellbeing. She discovered the scientific study of wellbeing, known as positive psychology, and completed her Master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied with the field’s founder, Dr. Martin Seligman.  Passionate about helping others live their best lives, Louisa went on to found the Canadian Positive Psychology Association in 2012 where she gathers top international researchers, scholars and practitioners at her hugely successful annual conferences, to share the research and applications that empower people everywhere to stay mentally strong, resilient and happy.  Now she speaks to audiences around the world sharing her rich scientific knowledge, and shows others, through her example, how to flourish with confidence.

Louisa Jewell is a speaker, author, and Canada's leading expert on the topic of positive psychology who has facilitated thousands of people towards greater flourishing, both at work and in their personal lives.

Louisa is the founder of the Canadian Positive Psychology Association, an organization that brings together leading-edge researchers and practitioners from around the world to disseminate the knowledge of positive psychology to improve the psychological health of all Canadians.

Louisa is a graduate of the ground-breaking Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) program at the University of Pennsylvania which is the first master's program in the world that offers in-depth study of the science of psychological well-being, led by renowned psychologist, Dr. Martin Seligman.

Louisa is a professor of positive psychology at the University of Texas and was an instructor at the University of Toronto and regularly delivers webinars and workshops to positive psychology practitioners around the world. Louisa co-hosted a weekly radio show for three years on CIUT.FM where she interviewed a wide range of interesting guests on the topic of 'energizing organizations'.
